Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy aims to restore your physical health by optimizing how you move and function in your environment. A pillar of physiotherapy practice is to encourage clients to assume responsibility for their health and well-being, primarily through exercise and movement rehabilitation.

Your physiotherapist will assess and analyze your condition using a detailed history-taking, as well as specific orthopedic tests and physical screening protocols. Your physiotherapist will then devise an intervention strategy consistent with the most current scientific evidence, using selected interventions to work towards meeting your stated goals and functional needs.

Physiotherapy interventions may include education and health promotion and prevention services; personalized therapeutic exercise programming; soft tissue and manual techniques; functional activity and tolerance testing and training; and workplace and occupational re-integration. Physiotherapists see clients of all ages in a variety of settings and contexts from wellness, health promotion and prevention, acute care and surgical rehabilitation, to disability and disease management.

Vitality physiotherapists also employ IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation), a treatment technique that utilizes fine filament needles placed within the muscle, causing a neuro-muscular response that results in reduced muscle spasm and pain.
