Dr. Dee Anne Gelinas, Chiropractor

Dr. Dee Anne Nadeau was born and raised in Nelson, BC. After graduating high school, she went on to complete her degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.  Having always had a passion for studying anatomy and physiology of the body, Dr. Dee knew she wanted to pursue a career in the health care field and this first degree was merely a stepping stone to something she always dreamed of.

With careful deliberation and research, and recalling her experience with a skilled sports practitioner who helped her through all of her own personal sports injuries while in Vancouver, Dr. Dee decided on the field of Chiropractic.

In 2003, Dr. Dee moved to Toronto to attend the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Pursuing a strong interest in sports medicine and nutrition, Dr. Dee dedicated herself to taking extra courses along the way to specialize in sports therapy. Soon after graduating in 2007, an opportunity opened up in Nelson and she made the journey back home to practice. With her own love and passion for sports, water, and the outdoors Dr. Dee could not be happier to be back in Nelson doing what she loves to do.

Dr. Brodie Nadeau, Chiropractor

Dr. Brodie Nadeau's interest in health care began with an Undergraduate degree in Microbiology & Immunology from Western University which then transitioned into Graduate education at the University of Toronto in a Cancer Research laboratory in the field of Molecular & Medical Genetics.  While appreciative of the great importance of this line of work, Dr. Brodie desired to be on the front lines of health care where he could positively impact people's lives more directly.

Talking with members of the profession and drawing on his own chiropractic experiences Dr. Brodie knew a career as a chiropractor would be an amazing life experience.  He too graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2007, as a classmate of Dr. Dee.

Originally from small-town Ontario, where he was the owner and operator of a multidisciplinary health care clinic, Dr. Brodie decided to make the move to Nelson after many enjoyable visits where he was inspired by the commitment to healthy living by its citizens.  As someone who has always enjoyed being physically active, Dr. Brodie is excited to offer his expertise to help keep Nelsonites mobile in their places of work, sport, and pleasure.

Amy Craft, RMT

Amy Craft is proud to be a Kootenay born-and-raised registered massage therapist. The path to her career started in 1999, when she took a local Hospice volunteer course and joined a palliative massage class for laymen. After learning a bit more about massage, Amy decided to enroll in the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy, in which she graduated valedictorian in 2003.

After graduation, Amy moved back to the Kootenays, where she set up her own business in Castlegar. For 10 years she was owner and operator of her own clinic. This gave Amy a great deal of experience with customer service, clinical thinking, and a broad client base. Previous continuing education courses include myofascial techniques, osteopathic techniques, evidence-based low back pain treatment and introduction to mood and sleep disorders.

Since moving to the Nelson area, Amy is excited for the next chapter of her practice. Running her own business was successful and rewarding, but she decided it was time to enjoy the multi-disciplinary setting offered at Vitality clinic. In her spare time, Amy enjoys gardening, playing “third” on a curling team, long walks, reading and an active social life with beloved friends and family.

Emily Fleming, RMT

Emily Fleming grew up in the Kootenays and has always enjoyed the active lifestyle this region has to offer. While studying music at Selkirk College, Emily injured her back snowboarding and developed chronic back pain. After seeing a plethora of therapists and becoming fascinated with the human body, she decided to take a 700 hour massage program at the Vancouver School of Bodywork and Massage followed by her 3000 hour diploma in registered massage therapy from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy.

As an RMT she has worked for Spa Utopia, one of Vancouver’s premier spas, as well as Total Therapy Rehabilitation and Wellness center. On her own journey to physical health, Emily has discovered the value of yoga and corrective strength training to create balance and stability in the body. She believes that massage therapy is a modality that promotes mobility of joints and tissues but is most effective in conjunction with lifestyle modifications and the development of strength and flexibility.

Emily provides her clients with homecare exercises that are manageable and effective. She understands that every body is different and individualizes her treatments using a combination of deep tissue, relaxation techniques, joint mobilizations, fascial work, stretching and remedial exercise.

Kristin Ditzel, Acupuncturist

Kristin Ditzel comes to Vitality with an extensive background in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her intuitive and caring qualities naturally led her to study this ancient art of medicine. Kristin studied acupuncture in Ontario, completing the registered acupuncture course in 2002.

After receiving her education in Ontario, she moved to Nelson to complete her studies, where she graduated in 2010 with a Diploma in the Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine offered through The Academy of Classical Chinese Medicine. Her deep belief in holistic care began over 15 years ago when she began studying aspects such as Reiki, Aromatherapy and Therapeutic Touch. She has also trained extensively in Scenar (a biofeedback device that delivers pain relief and cell replenishment), offering deep tissue repair and non-surgical face lifts.

Kristin’s insightful and caring ways are reflected in her application not only of acupuncture, but also through Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage), fascia release, reflexology and Scenar. She deeply believes that healing and living pain-free is possible for all of her clients and she imparts her belief with deep kindness and compassion. Kristin lives in Nelson with her husband and their two beautiful and spirited children.
